Man acquitted of Young Dolph murder released from Memphis jail after stalking arrest

A man acquitted in the murder of Young Dolph was arrested last week but has now been released on bond.

On June 11th, Hernandez Govan was arrested on charges of misdemeanour stalking and harassment, almost a year after he was cleared of killing Dolph.

According to ABC 24, he was released on bail on June 12th after his bond was set at $4,000. As part of his release, Govan isn’t allowed to contact the alleged victim, cannot use drugs, alcohol, or firearms, and is banned from communicating through social media platforms.

A woman claims that on June 3rd and June 4th, Govan sent her threatening messages and voicemails. She alleges that Govan threatened to have someone shoot up her home over a disagreement involving money.

Govan allegedly told the woman, “The National Guard can’t save you, they can’t be here forever,” after Memphis Police officers and National Guard members were called out.

He’s also accused of threatening to post explicit videos of her online, telling her that she was “putting her livelihood in danger.”

In a press release, the Memphis Police Department said, “Govan allegedly repeatedly harassed the victim, threatened to shoot up her residence, and threatened to post explicit content of her on social media.”

Dolph was shot and killed outside Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in November 2021, with two men gunning him down and leaving him with 22 gunshot wounds.

47-year-old Govan was accused of masterminding the killing, being charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

However, he was acquitted in August 2025. His lawyer revealed he was pleased with the result, but said it was “shameful” for him to spend almost a year in jail.
