London rapper sentenced to life in prison for murder

London drill rapper Rack5 has been sentenced to life in prison for murder.

The sentencing comes after he was found guilty of killing 30-year-old Zero Ls (real name Stephen Morrisson) last month.

According to Essex Police, the musician (real name Ellis Heather) was sentenced at the Old Bailey on July 17th. He was handed a life sentence and must serve a minimum of 28 years behind bars.

Ls, the brother of popular rapper Morrisson, was stabbed in an Epping car park in June 2020. He fled the scene with injuries before passing away in the hospital.

Judge Lickley KC stated that Rack5 was “armed with a knife… and had used it to deadly effect,” adding that he “stabbed Stephen without any justification… in a moment of extreme violence.”

Stephen’s mother, Lorraine, read an emotional statement on behalf of their family in court.

“Steve was a son, a brother, a dad and an uncle,” she said. “Every day we try to keep his memory alive so that his young son, nieces and nephews never forget him, because memories are all we now have left. The babies born after his death have been robbed of the chance to know their amazing uncle, because of you.”

She continued, “We have attended weddings, family events and celebrations that Steve should have been part of. We place a photograph where Steve would have sat so that he is still included. The older children feel the same pain and loss that we do as adults. Steve was a huge part of our lives. He was happy, funny and larger than life. His death has left an enormous hole in our family.”

25-year-old Rack5 is a member of West London rap group CGM alongside Digga D, Horrid1, and Sav’o. His biggest song, ‘Plugged In Freestyle’, has over six million Spotify streams.
