Lil Yachty calls for Lil Durk’s prison release
Lil Yachty has called for Lil Durk to be released from prison as his murder-for-hire case drags on.
The Chicago rapper is currently behind bars after being arrested in October 2024 for his alleged role in the murder of Quando Rondo’s cousin.
Yachty has shown his support for Durk after going 14 months without a trial taking place yet. Taking to his Instagram Stories last week, he wrote, “FREE @lildurk.”
Yachty and Durk have collaborated in the past on songs like ‘Homie Bitch’ in 2017 and ‘Till the Morning’ from 2020’s Lil Boat 3 project.
Durk is charged with one count of conspiracy and one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death.
The rapper is also charged with one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.
His trial was set to begin on January 20th, but it was delayed just two weeks before. Durk wanted the trial to go ahead, but the five other defendants requested a pushback.
“The case is so unusual and so complex, due to the nature of the prosecution and the number of defendants, that it is unreasonable to expect preparation for pre-trial proceedings or for the trial itself within the time limits established by the Speedy Trial Act,” documents read.
The trial is now set to begin on April 21st. If found guilty of the allegations, Durk faces up to life in prison.
Earlier this month, Durk was reportedly released from solitary confinement for the first time since August 2025. He was originally placed there for having an Apple Watch.
