Lil Yachty accused of copying another rapper’s music video

Lil Yachty hasn’t dropped a lot of music recently, but following the release of his latest single, ‘We Ball Forever,’ he has already received backlash. However, this time it isn’t about the quality of his material but, instead, his alleged theft of another rapper’s visual concept.

On October 20th, Yachty gifted fans with the music video for ‘We Ball Forever’. However, a day later, another rapper called out Yachty for stealing the concept of his music video. These creative spats happen between artists regularly, but this time, the emcee Curtis Williams attempted to prove it by posting a snippet of his visuals alongside Lil Yachty’s.

Williams claimed that the ‘One Night’ rhymer stole the idea from one of his unreleased tracks. He took to social media to show the world and pointed out the similarities. Both music videos use a fish-eye camera lens and have similar framing, and the resemblance is uncanny.

After posting the Lil Yachty comparison on his story, the Atlanta lyricist took to Instagram and wrote, “LMAO COME ON NOW” with several crying laughing emojis. Williams didn’t go into depth and dwell on it, but fans still began to debate whether he had a valid claim.

Some insist Yachty has stolen the idea. However, many claimed that it was a coincidence that they both chose to use fish-eye lenses that captured them from the same angles. Still, Williams himself admitted that the visuals were unreleased, which made it hard for many to see how Yachty could have stolen the idea if it hadn’t been public.

This isn’t the first time Lil Yachty has been accused of stealing or copying another emcee. Earlier this year, the ‘Minnesota’ creator was lambasted by hip-hop after streamer Kai Cenat previewed an unreleased Yachty song of his during a stream that sounded an awful lot like a track by Playboi Carti.

Fans were extremely angry and insisted that Yachty had taken Carti’s rhyme scheme. However, Lil Yachty wasn’t going to accept these allegations and took to X to shut them down, writing, “Biting him? How did I bite him.” He continued, “If that’s the case, I been workin’ with Cardio since 2019-2020. On record, y’all fans be smoking the strongest d**k.”

Yachty is yet to respond to the accusations of theft made by Williams.

Lil Yachty has angered many people this year. Following the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef, on his podcast A Safe Place, he asserted that Drizzy didn’t really lose and claimed it was impossible for him to lose the battle due to his stardom. Furthermore, he found himself in an online spat with former Concrete Boys rapper Karrahbooo. The two hashed out their differences online, with Yachty claiming that he had written all of Karrahbooo’s songs.

The release of new music was meant to calm things down and bring the focus back to music. However, Yachty’s involvement in beef continues to take centre stage.
