Lil Uzi Vert addresses Ebro feud in snippet from new song
Lil Uzi Vert has shared a snippet of a new song called ‘Ebro Chill’ that references their feud with radio personality Ebro Darden. The track was first teased to be on the tracklist for their Eternal Atake 2 album, which was released on November 1st, but it didn’t make the final cut.
Ebro previously criticised Lil Uzi Vert regarding the lack of progress they’ve made in their career, claiming they haven’t become a rockstar or an artist.
“I love Uzi Vert,” he said. “I feel like he still hasn’t become the rockstar he said he would become, though. I’m still waiting. Maybe I took it literal, but the rockstars that I know, they were selling out MetLife Stadium. They could sell out Madison Square Garden eight, ten times. They got hits on the radio, everywhere. Songs is everywhere.”
He added, “Where you at, my guy? Where you at, bro? Didn’t he just retire, too? Wasn’t he just like, ‘Yo, I’m tired, I’m done.’ Come on, son. You supposed to be a rockstar. What happened?”
Lil Uzi Vert quickly responded to Ebro by revealing the existence of ‘Ebro Chill’. In the lyrics, they address the bashing by claiming they can’t lose. “Sometimes I feel like life ain’t even real/ And you tryna say I was lost, but I can’t fail,” they rap, before repeating the words, “Ebro, chill.”
Speaking to Complex recently, Lil Uzi Vert stated that they didn’t have any ill will towards Ebro and respected him as an elder in the hip-hop space.
“Ebro is a good guy, that’s my mans,” they said. “I got a different respect for people that’s in hip-hop and anybody who’s my elder. So he has the right, and is entitled to his opinion because he’s definitely a staple in music no matter what.”
He continued, “When I say rockstar, he’s looking at the fireworks, he looking at all that stuff. Not the lifestyle, and I understand that. And I wasn’t, especially me being younger, I wasn’t able to explain exactly what I meant.”
This isn’t the only time Ebro criticised Lil Uzi Vert. When he did so on another occasion, he claimed Uzi took note of his criticism and improved their work with 2020’s Eternal Atake. “So glad I pressed Uzi Vert 4yrs ago. He proved me wrong! Exactly what I love,” he said. “Hope more artists do the same when I question your talent or skills.”
