Lil Uzi Vert reveals cryptic artwork for upcoming album ‘Eternal Atake 2’
Philadelphia emcee Lil Uzi Vert has surprised fans and hinted that they will drop a fresh project. Many were curious about potential new material from Uzi after the emcee was seen filming a music video last week. However, a recent post to Instagram hinted at what fans can expect to arrive soon.
Many had suspected something was in the pipeline when the ‘Just Wanna Rock’ musician returned to social media after months of radio silence. First, they changed their bio on Instagram to “ALL WHITE ALL WHITE ALL WHITE.” The same phenomenon occurred on X, which has seen Uzi’s account be silent for the past year, all of which raised eyebrows.
Furthermore, fans knew the lyricist would be seeking retribution following the horrific feedback they received after releasing their Pink Tape album. That said, fans became ecstatic when he took to Instagram on October 24th after posting creepy artwork with a familiar logo in the corner.
The photo shows a crowd of women all entranced and staring at the lens with beaming luminous irises. Still, the clue that it was the cover of a new album was the symbol in the corner of the photo and the caption, which read: “EA 2 [white heart emoji].”
Eternal Etake, released at the start of 2020 with the single ‘Futsal Shuffle 2020,’ received a lot of press but was extremely underwhelming for many. Numerous critics agreed that compared to their beloved mixtapes, the body of work was undeniably poor.
The album’s beats were highlighted as muddy and poorly mixed. Autotune was considered extreme, culminating in a nasally voice engulfed in bass. Although Lil Uzi Vert regularly adopts the futuristic, space-age aesthetic, it has rarely been translated into their music, so only time will tell if this project delivers spacey themes.
The “ALL WHITE” description in the bio is a reference to the compulsory white shoes worn by the cult. Uzi then followed up by uploading artwork for a single ‘Uzi the Earthling’, which is also primarily white.
Although the track is only a 30-second teaser, it is most definitely spacey, as are many of the instrumentals used by Uzi when he leans into their galactic hip-hop vibe. The emcee has also released an album trailer that claims Uzi went missing on March 6th, 2020. The visual introduces us to a purple spaceship. We then travel on the ship with Uzi, where we are mere onlookers as scientists wipe the rapper’s memory. Once the process is completed, Uzi is woken up and seemingly returned to Earth.
