Lil Uzi Vert opens up on nitrous oxide addiction
Lil Uzi Vert, who recently announced that they will be releasing a sequel to their 2020 album, Eternal Atake, has opened up about their addiction to Nitrous Oxide, more commonly known as laughing gas.
The release was announced when the Philadelphia emcee uploaded some cryptic artwork to Instagram. The musician has been absent from social media for months, but when they suddenly changed their Instagram and Twitter bios to “ALL WHITE ALL WHITE ALL WHITE,” fans knew something was going on.
Last year, Lil Uzi Vert released their third project, Pink Tape. However, it received mostly negative reviews from fans and critics alike, who felt they had waited a long time for an inferior product.
That said, their avid followers knew that they would want to make up for the disappointment and prove to people that they still had the potent creativity they had when they released projects such as Luv Is Rage and Luv Is Rage 2.
When Uzi took to social media last month, fans were shocked, but when they suddenly posted album artwork featuring the Heaven’s Gate cult symbol, people knew they were receiving a follow-up to Eternal Atake. Furthermore, the cover was captioned: “EA 2 [white heart emoji].”
The ‘Just Wanna Rock’ rhymer is an intriguing and quirky lyricist different from other artists. When they released Eternal Atake, they immersed themselves in a futuristic, space-age aesthetic. He became the living embodiment of an alien rapper. However, despite the originality and character they bring as an emcee, the ‘Ps & Qs’ rhymer is still human and deals with very human issues.
Behind the showmanship, the enigmatic persona of Lil Uzi Vert, Symere Woods, has been battling addiction for many years, and they only recently opened up about it in a new song. The lead single of Eternal Atake 2 was recently gifted to fans in the form of ‘We Good’.
Before their return, a video of Lil Uzi Vert inhaling a balloon filled with nitrous oxide went viral in August. The rapper was in the studio when he allegedly consumed the gas, and they were seen giggling afterwards. Fans were worried about him, and they are not the only emcee allegedly addicted to nitrous oxide. Hip-hop lovers are also concerned about Kanye West’s relationship with the gas.
Still, on their track ‘We Good’, Lil Uzi Vert addresses fans, rhyming, “They thought I was a dead guy / I was on that NOS / Smallest car was a Redeye / Smokin’ gas, don’t cough / But it gave me the red eyes.” This is the first time the Philly emcee has addressed fans’ concerns. However, it doesn’t seem they are worried about their health and appears to be fine now they have returned.
