Lil Tjay arrested in connection with Offset shooting
Lil Tjay has been arrested in connection with the Offset shooting this week.
Offset was hospitalised on April 6th after being shot outside a casino in Hollywood, Florida.
According to TMZ, Tjay was booked for participating in a fight, resulting in him being charged with misdemeanour disorderly conduct-affray.
The Bronx rapper stood for a mugshot at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, and his bond was set at $500.
Offset was shot near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on April 6th. He’s reportedly in the hospital in stable condition, with a representative for the rapper saying he was “receiving medical care” and being “closely monitored.”
Rumours surfaced about Tjay being taken into custody following the news about Offset being shot. His lawyer, Dawn Florio, quickly released a statement denying his involvement in the shooting.
“We are issuing this release in regards to false rumours that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting which occurred at the Valet Area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood which resulting in non-life threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos,” she said.
Florio continued, “Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false. We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the accuracy of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumours.”
Police say that a second person was arrested at the scene of the crime, but that person isn’t facing any charges.
With over 11 million monthly Spotify listeners, Tjay is best known for songs like ‘Pop Out’ and ‘Calling My Phone’, which are both approaching a billion streams on the platform.
