Lil Durk quotes Drake lyrics in message from behind bars

Lil Durk has shared a message from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles, quoting lyrics from collaborator, Drake.

The Chicago rapper is currently in prison awaiting trial in his murder-for-hire case, which has been pushed back to May.

Taking to social media this week, Durk wrote on his Instagram Stories, “Crazy how you gotta wait until it’s dark out to see who really with you.”

The lyrics are taken from Drizzy’s song ‘How Bout Now’, which appears on his 2019 compilation, Care Package.

He raps in the song, “Always felt like my vision been bigger than the bigger picture/ Crazy how you gotta wait until it’s dark out to see who really with you/ Crazy how even when it miss you/ Shit’ll come back around and get you.”

Drake initially released ‘How Bout Now’ on SoundCloud in 2014, with the song also appearing on the physical version of If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.

Durk has worked with Drizzy on a couple of occasions, including ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’, which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100, and ‘In the Bible’.

He previously shared a message on his 33rd birthday in October. In a jail call that surfaced online, he said, “I love y’all. I’m doing better, man. We all got second chances and, you know, I just want to let y’all know that we with y’all one hundred percent.”

He added, “When I get out of here, inshallah, I’ma leave back out. I want to go over there and see y’all and be with y’all. Get y’all brothers all together. I love y’all.”

Durk is accused of conspiring with others to kill Quando Rondo, resulting in the death of his cousin. If found guilty, he faces up to life in prison.
