Lil Durk’s murder-for-hire trial pushed back for third time
Lil Durk was scheduled to appear in court this month for his murder-for-hire trial, but it’s been pushed back once again.
The 33-year-old rapper (real name Durk Banks) was gearing up for his trial on January 20th, but the date has now been delayed to May 4th.
According to Complex, a California judge granted a continuance on January 5th, just two weeks away from the planned date. The five other defendants in the case requested a delay, but Durk asked for the trial to proceed.
The documents cite 100s of gigabytes of digital material in evidence, including audio and video recordings, surveillance footage, over 30,000 pages of reports and records, photographs, witness statements, medical documents, and other materials.
“The case is so unusual and so complex, due to the nature of the prosecution and the number of defendants that it is unreasonable to expect preparation for pre-trial proceedings or for the trial itself within the time limits established by the Speedy Trial Act,” the document read.
A pretrial conference has been put in place for April 13th ahead of the proposed May 4th start date.
This is now the third time the trial has been delayed, following the previous January 7th, 2025, and October 14th, 2025, dates.
Durk has been accused of conspiring with others to murder Quando Rondo, resulting in the death of his cousin, Lul Pab.
He’s charged with one count of conspiracy and one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death and one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.
