Lil Durk arrested and charged with murder-for-hire in Florida

Chicago emcee Lil Durk has been arrested and charged with the serious crime of murder-for-hire in South Florida.

The ‘Laugh Now, Cry Later’ rhymer was arrested in Broward County and taken straight into police custody and as per the police records obtained by XXL, he is being held there without bond. Although there are no further details about his arrest, he will remain in police custody until he is put in the hands of US Marshals.

Other gang members known to Durk have also been arrested and charged with murder-to-hire, including five Chicago natives with OTF connections. The arrests pertain to the 2022 murder of Saviay’a Robinson, Quando Rondo’s cousin, in Los Angeles.

As reported by The Chicago Tribune, the indictment, filed in Los Angeles District Court, alleges that all five suspects are associates of Lil Durk’s OTF collective. Alleged evidence points to the label as flights and rental cars of the arrested were all paid for by a credit card, which can be traced back to the company.

The prosecutors who filed the case also suggest that a currently anonymous member of the collective was offering what are described as “lucrative music opportunities” to anyone who was willing to kill Quando Rondo.

Quando Rondo is an associate of NBA Youngboy, and in 2022, he was the victim of an attempted murder after several shots were fired at a vehicle he and his team were in. The incident, which happened at a gas station in Beverly Grove, didn’t kill him, but his cousin was hit and died from the injuries incurred.

Based on the evidence in their possession, law enforcement currently believes that the attempted murder was retaliation for the murder of Lil Durk’s protégé King Von. An emcee who a friend of Quando Rondo allegedly murdered after a fight outside an Atlanta club in 2020.

The official charges facing Durk and the five affiliates are conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, committing murder-for-hire resulting in death, as well as the use of, carry and discharge of firearms and a machinegun in the furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.

Prior to his arrest, Lil Durk was reassuring fans that he was working on his album Deep Thoughts, which was set to be released on October 18th. He has since pushed the release date to November 22nd.
