Lil Durk’s murder-for-hire trial delayed for fourth time

Lil Durk is experiencing yet another delay to his murder-for-hire trial.

The Chicago rapper was originally scheduled to appear in court on January 7th, 2025, but over a year has passed with numerous pushbacks.

On February 23rd, Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon revealed that the trial has now been delayed to August 25th, 2026, having previously been set for April 21st, 2026. However, she did note that certain factors could change the date.

“Lil Durk’s trial moved to 8/25/26 at a hearing today, but there’s a catch,” she wrote. “If the judge grants pending motion from 3 co-defendants seeking to sever their cases from Durk’s trial, Durk wants to go sooner. The 8/25 date was set to accommodate defence for co-defendant, not Durk.”

This is now the fourth time the trial has been delayed, following the previous January 7th, 2025, October 14th, 2025, and January 20th, 2026 dates.

The most recent date was pushed back just two weeks before the trial was set to start. The five other defendants in the case requested a delay, but Durk asked for the trial to proceed.

Documents cited 100s of gigabytes of digital material in evidence, including audio and video recordings, surveillance footage, over 30,000 pages of reports and records, photographs, witness statements, medical documents, and other materials.

“The case is so unusual and so complex, due to the nature of the prosecution and the number of defendants that it is unreasonable to expect preparation for pre-trial proceedings or for the trial itself within the time limits established by the Speedy Trial Act,” documents read.

Durk has been accused of conspiring with others to murder Quando Rondo, resulting in the death of his cousin, Lul Pab.

He’s charged with one count of conspiracy and one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death and one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.
