Lil Durk’s lawyers claim he’s been in solitary confinement for four months

The legal team behind Lil Durk has claimed that the rapper has been in solitary confinement for over four months.

Just this week, Durk found out his murder-for-hire trial had been pushed back from January 20th to May 4th.

In a new motion obtained by Complex, his attorney, Christy O’ Connor, alleged he’s being held “without process” in violation of federal regulations.

In the January 6th filing, O’ Connor claimed he’s been in solitary confinement for 131 days without access to commissary. As part of that, he’s allegedly only allowed one phone call each month and no in-person visits.

O’Connor claimed the punishment is the result of Durk being found in possession of an unauthorised Apple Watch.

“[Lil Durk] is confined to a very small jail cell, just large enough for a single bed, a toilet, and a sink,” she said. “The deleterious effects of extended solitary confinement on an inmate’s psychological well-being are well-documented.”

She also accused the Bureau of Prisons and Los Angeles’ Metropolitan Detention Center of providing different reasons for his isolation. O’Connor claimed that confinement can cause psychological damage, including social withdrawal, anxiety, and depression.

Durk has been accused of conspiring with others to murder Quando Rondo, resulting in the death of his cousin, Lul Pab. He’s charged with one count of conspiracy and one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death.

He’s also charged with one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.

The rapper took to his Instagram Stories on January 6th, writing, “Crazy how you gotta wait until it’s dark out to see who really with you.”
