Lil Durk and Gunna pay tribute to Virgil Abloh in ‘What Happened To Virgil’ video

Lil Durk and Gunna have paid homage to the late Virgil Abloh in their new video for ‘What Happened To Virgil’.

Abloh read architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and during his studies, he began to write about fashion for The Brilliance. Then a chance meeting with Kanye West at the t-shirt store he worked at in Chicago would prove to be life-changing, and he’d go on to create the streetwear brand Off-White.

He’s one of the most important figures in defining modern fashion, and his presence is missed greatly. Abloh passed away last year after secretly battling cancer for several years.

The new video for Lil Durk and Gunna’s collaboration opens with a powerful quote from Abloh that reads: “Life is so short that you can’t waste even a day subscribing to what someone thinks you can do versus knowing what you can do.”

The poignant visual cultivates with a series of pictures ends with a series of photographs that explain the cultural importance of Abloh. It includes Drake’s plane, which was painted by Virgil and the red roof design for Louis Vuitton, which he completed shortly before his death.
