Lil Durk files to dismiss murder-for-hire case ahead of trial

Not for the first time, Lil Durk is attempting to dismiss his murder-for-hire case. The Chicago rapper (real name Durk Banks) filed court documents on October 6th.

Durk is accused of conspiring with others to kill Quando Rondo (Tyquian Bowman); instead, Rondo’s cousin, Lul Pab (Saviay’a Robinson), was shot and lost his life.

As a result of the alleged crime, he was hit with one count of conspiracy and one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death.

In addition, he’s facing one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.

According to Billboard, Durk claims prosecutors only have a vague theory about what happened in the alleged 2022 murder and that the defence team can’t prepare.

His legal team wrote, “This indictment is impermissibly vague. It leaves the defence to guess as to the government’s theory of guilt, and it leaves the government free to change that theory as its cooperators’ stories morph over time to meet the demands of a conviction.”

Lawyer Drew Findling says a murder-for-hire indictment should specify the bounty and the communications of the offer.

“What sum of money is alleged to have been offered as bounty? In cash, via a wire transfer or a written check?” the filing questions. “What were the ‘lucrative music opportunities’ that served as the alleged consideration for the T.B.’s murder? Was it a feature on one of Mr Banks’ songs that the government claims was offered and/or furnished as consideration for the murder? If so, which song? The defence is entitled to know.”

Durk was arrested in October 2024. His trial was recently pushed back to January 20th, 2026, after previously being set for October 14th, 2025.
