Kid Cudi announces new album with single release
Entergalactic creator Kid Cudi has announced that he will soon release the first single off his forthcoming album and has suggested that the rollout will begin soon. Many assumed that the ‘Day N Nite’ star had retired. However, he has proven those who doubted him wrong.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) late on April 30th, the INSANO rapper unveiled to his fans that the song is entitled ‘NEVERLAND’ and although he didn’t share any audio he shared a short trailer and encouraged his followers to pre-save the track, writing, “Pre-save NEVERLAND, my first single from my new album, NOW! At http://kidcudi.com.” The post was followed by a ferris wheel emoji.
When fans follow the link, they are greeted with a countdown that confirms the track will be available for download on May 9th. In April, Kid Cudi told fans that he is excited to host some exclusive listening sessions for his album, writing on social media, “Hey fam. I see the excitement. I have an idea. I wanna get 10 fans in a room to hear my first two singles, and then afterwards, we interview u, and u tell us what u heard. Plannin’ on it this month. I’ll be listening w u, so u meet me, and we chill and vibe out.”
The former G.O.O.D Music signee confirmed that he planned on hosting his intimate listening sessions for fans in New York, Los Angeles and his hometown of Cleveland. Kid Cudi hasn’t spoken much about the project, but did open up about some elements in an interview with Hube during March.
After being asked what “makes a collaborative project successful,” Cudi detailed how he achieved satisfaction with this latest body of work, explaining, “This new direction that I’m taking with my album has been exciting for me because I put myself in an uncomfortable situation to achieve it.”
He continued, “When I first started making this album, I didn’t know if I would even be able to sing at the level I needed to in order for it to be executed in the right way. Working on these songs, collaborating with the writers and producers, and building songs from the ground up—it did something for me as an artist.”
Speaking about how organic and straightforward the process was, he concluded, “I haven’t created like this in a long time. It’s been years. With my last few projects, I was getting beats from different people and building an album that way, but there is something about being in a room and creating something from scratch—from a simple hum—it’s so fulfilling. I proved to myself that I was able to accomplish it when I finished it. I had to take a step back to realise, ‘Wow, that was so outside of my comfort zone.’” The new so-far-untitled album will be Cudi’s first since 2024’s Insano (Nitro Mega).
