Kid Cudi reveals the artwork for his upcoming album 'Insano'

The creative and innovative lone wolf of hip-hop, Kid Cudi, has finally revealed the artwork of his upcoming album INSANO with fans on Twitter, and it is vibrant, to say the least.

On August 17th, the rapper, singer and producer took to social media to give fans a visual synopsis of the forthcoming project, and it is a vivid, striking piece. The graphic sees an array of colours under black, zig-zag lines and (like Cudi) is abstract.

Cudi (real name Scott Mescudi) revealed that the piece was designed by the New York-based artist and sculptor KAWS. The two have worked together previously on other projects, although how involved he has been in INSANO beyond its artwork is unclear.

KAWS’ artistic relationship with Kid Cudi is most definitely more extensive than music. Earlier this year, the ‘Day N Nite’ rapper revealed his KAWS-designed tattoo for the first time. A figurine of Mescudi was revealed to fans earlier this year, which depicted Cudi singing into a microphone. However, it also displayed a massive tattoo on its back that he claimed was, in fact, real.

The tattoo depicted was identical to the Man on the Moon trilogy box set that was released last year. KAWS was also responsible for the visuals of the trilogy and designed the art for 2009’s Man on the Moon: The End of Day, 2010’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr Rager and 2020’s Man on the Moon III: The Chosen.

Earlier this month, Cudi announced that following the release of INSANO, he wants to stop by the Drink Champs podcast, tweeting, “Ima sit and talk w Nore and ima address some stuff, talk about my journey last few years and the future.”

INSANO is expected to be one of the most innovative and forward-thinking hip-hop projects of the year. Fans and critics were extremely disappointed upon the release of Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape, but with guest appearances including Steve Aoki, Travis Scott, and Wiz Khalifa, INSANO is shrouded in anticipation.
