Former Kanye West employee accuses him of “antisemitic tirades”
Kanye West has been sued by a man for discrimination, a hostile work environment, labour code violations, failure to pay wages and wrongful termination. Among complainant Murphy Aficionado’s many accusations is that West delivered “antisemitic tirades” that turned his life into a “nightmare.”
The plaintiff claims Kanye hired him as a project manager in October 2022 and was forced to work up to 70 hours a week, leading to him allegedly sleeping in the office to make sure all of his tasks were completed. In the lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Aficionado says he was met with “racist lectures” and angry outbursts.
“Ye’s antisemitic tirades and conspiracies were a daily occurrence,” the suit, filed by lawyers Carney R. Shegerian and William Reed, reads. “Often, these outbursts involved how Jews controlled the Kardashians. Other times, Ye recounted how Jews were going after him and his money.”
Aficionado quoted West allegedly saying, “The Jews are out to get me. They froze my bank account. The Jews got Kim [Kardashian] and my kids.” Asked to clarify his comments, Kanye allegedly replied, “The Jews convinced Kim [Kardashian]. She has Jewish masters.”
In December last year, West apologised to Jewish people for his antisemitic remarks, promising to be better and asking for forgiveness. “I sincerely apologise to the Jewish community for any unintended outburst caused by my words or actions,” he said. “It was not my intention to hurt or demean, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused.”
He continued, “I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding more in the future. Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity.”
West’s antisemitic comments include allegedly praising Adolf Hitler, stating he saw “good things” in the dictator of Nazi Germany and that he “especially” had value as a human being, according to a teacher at his Donda Academy. He also once threatened to go “death con three” on Jewish people; another time, he claimed the Jewish community “owned the Black voice” and that “they’ll take us and milk us til’ we die.”
West is yet to respond to the news of the upcoming lawsuit. In recent times, the rapper has been seen on various occasions in Japan, which appears to be where he has currently settled for the time being with his wife, Bianca Censori.
