Former teacher at Kanye West’s Donda Academy claims school had “Hitler vibes”
Kanye West, who is currently living in Japan and working on his album Bully was recently sued by former assistant and Yeezy employee Lauren Pisciotta for sexual harassment. Now, an ex-teacher at the Donda Academy has filed a lawsuit against the rapper, which alleges that the school had “Hitler vibes.”
The Donda Academy, named after Kanye’s mother, was established in 2022 and launched with the aim of cultivating young talent and reviving religion in education. However, ex-teacher Cecilia Hailey has filed a lawsuit alleging that the rapper wrongfully terminated her job.
In her filing, Hailey claims that she was let go from the academy because she pushed back against the curriculum that was being taught. In a recent interview, she delved into the details of working at the school.
Speaking with The Sun US, Hailey alleged that the College Dropout creator wanted the children to march and take rifle shooting classes. In conversation with the publication, the teacher detailed why she pushed back, explaining, “I’m thinking that is not gonna happen if I’m here! That’s not acceptable, it’s not necessary, and what does that have to do with education?”
Hailey accused the ‘Slow Jamz’ rhymer of being delusional and even likened the elements of the curriculum to the kind of teachings that would be pushed by Adolf Hitler, a fascist dictator whom Kanye has praised in the past.
She elaborated to The Sun US, “Teaching these kids to march! To be honest with you I kind of got like Hitler vibes around that or real bizarre things.”
Furthermore, Hailey alleged that it is Donda Academy’s policy not to stop bullying and asserted that students regularly get violent. Alleging this, Hailey recalled, “So you might have a fourth grader hitting on a kindergarten or a first grader. We had kids hiding under tables because they were afraid. It was mayhem, really.”
Cecilia Hailey has spoken out against Donda Academy before, and the teacher, who has over two and a half decades of experience in teaching, has alleged that the academy doesn’t allow “individualized learning plans” required by California state regulations. Furthermore, she has alleged that, on average, the students are two years behind other schools concerning mathematics. The lawsuit against Kanye West has a trial date set for April, 2025.
