Kanye West announces two new shows in Chicago
Kanye West has announced that he’ll be returning to Chicago for two new concerts.
The 49-year-old rapper has been touring across the world this year in support of his Bully album, and now he’s set to perform in his hometown.
Ye has announced that he’ll be performing at Soldier Field on September 3rd and September 4th.
The rapper revealed the news on his website, giving fans the chance to sign up for pre-sale and win tickets.
Kanye’s last event in Chicago was his Vultures listening experience at the United Center in February 2024, playing music from his first collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign. Prior to that, he held a listening party for his Donda album at Soldier Field in August 2021.
So far this year, Ye has performed twice in North America, with shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, in April. Outside of the US, he’s hit the stage in Mexico, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Georgia.
Kanye was born and raised in Chicago, often referencing the city in his lyrics and interviews throughout his career.
During a performance with Chance The Rapper in September 2018, Ye claimed that he was relocating to the Chi.
“I wanna thank my brother Chance for bringing me back to Chicago,” he said. “So, the first thing on my mind is, I gotta let y’all know that I’m moving back to Chicago, and I’m never leaving again.”
When Cam’ron claimed that Kanye was putting a “stain” on Chicago with his antisemitic comments, Ye replied, “How Cam say I’m doing anything bad for Chicago. Chicago loves me.” I love Cam. It’s n*ggas like you that had me shook to release the song but I ain’t scared of y’all n*ggas.”
