Hip hop’s billionaire bad boy Kanye West has told media outlets that, aside from his fashion endeavours, he “absolutely” intends to pursue his political aspirations. The 45-year-old rapper and record producer attempted to run for US president in 2020. However, it was to no avail. But the failed attempt has not discouraged the rapper, who simply acknowledged “that time wasn’t in God’s time”.
Appearing on ABC News, during the interview, Kanye addressed a multitude of issues, including his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and his abysmal treatment of Pete Davidson. When asked if he still had “future political aspirations,” the rapper answered, “Yes, absolutely.” After his failed attempt in 2020, West took to Instagram with a post captioned, “Kanye 2024.”
During the 30-minute interview with ABC’s Linsey Davis, West spoke on a lot of things, from his newly opened private school to burning bridges with Adidas and GAP. The Chicago rapper even opened up about his current relationship with his children and the struggles he has been having with co-parenting. For withstanding his post-divorce abuse, Kanye revealed that he has a “new respect” for Kardashian and even apologised as he stated, “This is the mother of my children, and I apologise for any stress that I have caused, even in my frustration, because God calls me to be stronger.”
During the interview, Kanye even noted how his actions may have caused Kardashian great stress, which may have affected her ability to raise his children. He stated how unconstructive he has been, “I need this person to be less stressed and of the best, sound mind and as calm as possible to be able to raise those children at the end of the day.”
Throughout the interview, a number of issues were discussed, including his recent spats with Adidas and GAP. Speaking on the conflation of all his issues, the rapper disclosed, “What was happening at GAP, what was happening at Adidas and what was happening in my home,” he continued, “It was all kind of a disregard for the voice of something that I co-created. I co-created the children, I co-created the product at Adidas, I co-created the product at Gap — and there’s a parallel, and the parallel does touch on discrimination.”
As controversial as Ye may be, from the interview, you can see there are sentiments of remorse and regret within him, and he is looking to make things right, at least in the family department. As for the fashion houses, he seems to be fully done with them and is looking forward to his new solo ventures.
