Jury recommends life in prison for Foolio’s four convicted murderers
A jury has recommended that the four men convicted of murdering Florida rapper Foolio receive life in prison.
Foolio was killed in a car park outside a hotel in June 2024. Earlier this month, four people were found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
23-year-old Isaiah Chance, 20-year-old Sean Gathright, 32-year-old Rashad Murphy, and 29-year-old Davion Murphy were all convicted.
According to WFLA, the jury recommended life in prison without the possibility of parole on May 15th.
State Attorney Suzy Lopez said, “This is just a recommendation from the jury to the judge. There will be motions filed from the defence, and then the judge will hand out her sentence.”
She continued, “If you commit violent crimes in Hillsborough County, we are going to hold you accountable. These four men will spend the rest of their lives in a Florida state prison for the decisions they made early that morning during the summer of 2024.”
Chance’s lawyer, Justin Petredis, stated, “The death penalty exists for the worst of the worst. We submit that Isaiah Chance is not that. As I said, he will pay for this crime every day for the rest of his life. We are asking you to let him have that life.”
Chance, Gathright, and the two Murphys will be sentenced on June 22nd at 1:30pm.
Last week, Gathright apologised to Foolio’s family. “I want to say my deepest condolences,” he said in court. “I understand that it’s hard losing a child, a best friend, a brother, a cousin. For that, I just cannot say sorry enough.”
Alicia Andrews was found guilty of manslaughter in October 2025 and is also waiting to be sentenced.
