Foolio murder suspect found guilty of manslaughter

Jacksonville rapper Foolio was shot dead last year. Now, one of the murder suspects has been found guilty of manslaughter.

Alicia Andrews was convicted after initially being hit with first-degree murder charges, while also being found not guilty of conspiracy to commit murder.

The trial lasted eight days in a Hillsborough County courtroom. According to Complex, a verdict was reached at around 10:20pm after a few hours of deliberation.

Foolio was killed in the car park of a Holiday Inn in Tampa, Florida, on June 23rd, 2024. Prosecutors claimed Andrews and her boyfriend, Isaiah Chance, travelled from Jacksonville to Tampa and followed him around the city.

They were accused of giving his location to three men, Sean Gathright, Rashad Murphy, and Davion Murphy, who allegedly shot the rapper.

Andrews’ attorney, Life Malcolm, denied any wrongdoing. “Perception is not reality,” he said. “Just because she was there around a group of guys who had bad stuff on their mind, doesn’t mean that she had bad stuff on her mind or was even aware that they did.”

He added, “She was here for a trip with her boyfriend. That’s it and that’s all, and found her herself caught up in a mix of stuff that she was unaware about completely.”

Andrews is scheduled to be sentenced on December 8th. The other murder suspects, Chance, Sean Gathright, Davion Murphy, and Rashad Murphy, are set to go on trial next spring.

Foolio died at the age of 26. His final album, Resurrection, was released in April 2024. He’s best known for his song ‘Voo Doo’, which has over 82 million Spotify streams. Other big songs include ‘Play with Me’ and ‘Dead Opps Pt. 2’.
