Foolio’s killer apologises to rapper’s family after conviction
One of the men who killed Florida rapper Foolio apologised to his family this week.
On May 8th, a jury found four men guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Those convicted were 23-year-old Isaiah Chance, 20-year-old Sean Gathright, 32-year-old Rashad Murphy, and 29-year-old Davion Murphy.
Gathright, who was also found guilty of attempted second-degree murder for injuring other people in the shooting, apologised in the courtroom on May 12th, on the second day of the penalty phase of the trial.
“I want to say my deepest condolences,” he said, according to the Tampa Bay Times. “I understand that it’s hard losing a child, a best friend, a brother, a cousin. For that, I just cannot say sorry enough.”
Foolio’s mother, Sandrikas Mays, wrote a victim impact statement that was read out in the courtroom.
“Charles was more than what people saw online or heard in his music,” she wrote. “To me, he was my son, a human being with a heart, dreams, flaws and people who loved him deeply. He was a brother, a friend, an artist and someone who still had so much life ahead of him.”
She added, “I ask the court to remember that Charles was a person whose life mattered. He was loved deeply, and his absence has devastated our family.”
Gathright cried in court last week, prompting Mays to take to Instagram to mock him. “JUSTICE 4 FOOLIO !!!” she wrote. “The Right Get Back !!! G U I L T Y AS CHARGED …. We all gonna cry together!!!! Wat they say ??? Pop a bottle of Don Julio … Let’s Drink up !!!”
As well as the four men, a fifth suspect, Alicia Andrews, was found guilty of manslaughter in October 2025.
