Jay-Z announces New York City pop-ups in Brooklyn and Manhattan
Jay-Z is celebrating 30 years of Reasonable Doubt with the launch of new pop-up events.
Hov’s debut album turns 30 on June 25th, and the Brooklyn rapper is marking the occasion with activations in his home state.
On the day of the anniversary, pop-ups will be held in downtown Manhattan and Dumbo in Brooklyn, with the exact locations still waiting to be announced.
The pop-ups will serve as interactive experiences to pay homage to Reasonable Doubt and are set to be free to the public.
Jay-Z is busy touring North America and Europe this year. He headlined Roots Picnic in May, bringing out the likes of Bilal, Jazmine Sullivan, Memphis Bleek, Beanie Sigel, Peedi Crakk, Freeway, Young Gunz, and Meek Mill.
The shows will continue in July, with Jay performing three times at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York City, playing classic albums in their entirety.
The first show, on July 10th, will see him perform Reasonable Doubt in full. Then, on July 11th, he’ll celebrate 25 years of The Blueprint. Due to “unprecedented demand,” there’s also a third show on July 12th, described as an “extra innings” concert.
Following those concerts, Hov will perform in Paris at Stade de France on September 10th, before going back to the US with a show in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium on October 23rd.
Speaking on Reasonable Doubt earlier this year, Jay told GQ, “When we first dropped Reasonable Doubt, we sold 43,000 records … the fact that we released an album was proof enough of concept. We did it. Remember, we’re not in control of distribution, marketing, anything. We’re going like a street-level, street-team approach to this.”
