Jamie Foxx jokes about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs in new Netflix special amid poisoning rumours
Jamie Foxx has poked fun Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs in his Netflix special What Had Happened Was…, which was released on the streaming platform on December 10th. The jokes arrive following speculation that Foxx poisoned him, with the Bad Boy boss allegedly responsible for his hospitalisation in 2023.
However, the rumours that came from tapings of the Netflix special are now confirmed to simply be jokes at Combs’ expense. During part of the show, Foxx answers whether Combs “tried to kill” him or not. He responded by claiming that he always left his infamous parties when the night was still young.
“The internet was trying to kill me, though. The internet said Puffy tried to kill me. I know what you’re thinking, did he?” he joked. “Hell, no, I left those parties early, I was out by 9pm, because something don’t look right, it’s slippery in here.”
As the special progressed, Foxx joked that Combs might be the devil. “If it was Puffy, he had a flaming bottle of Johnson &… I’m just kidding,” he said.
Foxx has been quiet about the events that led to his medical issues in April 2023, which left him hospitalised. In the special, he confirms that he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke. After concluding the three-night taping of What Happened Was… in Atlanta, Foxx gave a speech where he admitted how hard it was to revisit the experience.
“It was an excruciating time to be able to open those wounds every single day for three nights,” he said in a clip from CBS Mornings. “It was excruciating because the worry is what gets you. We’ve got a great show in the room, but we don’t know what they may laugh or what they may not laugh at. Any comedian will tell you that’s the thing, the worry is the thing.”
He continued, “Usually, when you do a stand-up special, you go out for a year and a half and work every little nook and cranny, and then you tape it. You don’t just show up in Atlanta and turn the camera on. It’s a personal journey, and I hope I never have to – I am never going to go through this again. My next jokes will start out, ‘Knock, knock!’ I’ll do an hour and a half of ‘Knock, knock’ jokes.”
