Jacksonville rapper Lil Poppa’s funeral details revealed
Details have been announced for the funeral of Jacksonville rapper Lil Poppa following his recent death.
Poppa (real name Janarious Wheeler) died in Georgia on January 18th at the age of 25.
According to The Florida Times-Union, Poppa’s funeral service will take place in his Florida hometown on March 7th.
The service is located at Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church at 1118 W Beaver St, with church pastor Harry Williams confirming it will be open to the public.
The memorial service will begin at 10am with “strictly enforced” security in place, with no cameras allowed inside. Anyone caught breaking the rules will be removed from the church.
A flyer reads, “The funeral service will be open to the public, and the family asks that all guests honour the sacred nature of the service. Out of respect for the family, phones, recording devices, Meta glasses, and cameras of any kind will not be permitted. Guests who do not comply will be respectfully escorted out.”
For those who are unable to make it to the service, it will be live-streamed on the rapper’s YouTube channel.
Poppa’s death was ruled a suicide, with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office revealing he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
A memorial gathering for Poppa took place last month, resulting in four people being shot. Officers said around 12 to 15 shots were fired, with the victims including two men aged 37 and 43, and two women aged 34 and 39.
Poppa left behind a partner, Toie Roberts, and a young child. “Nothing could EVER describe the pain, the thoughts, the constant heartbreak of it all,” she said after his death.
