Mother of Lil Poppa’s child pens emotional message after suicide
Florida rapper Lil Poppa passed away last month, with the mother of his child paying tribute with an emotional message.
The rapper’s death was confirmed on February 18th, with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office ruling it a suicide after shooting himself in the head.
Poppa (real name Janarious Mykel Wheeler) lost his life at the age of 25, leaving behind a partner and young child.
This week, his longtime girlfriend, Toie Roberts, took to Instagram to share a message for Poppa, revealing her heartbreak.
Despite admitting her confusion about him committing suicide, she showed understanding for the decision he made.
“MYKEL..what’s understood don’t ever have to explained especially to the internet!” she began. “nothing could EVER describe the pain, the thoughts, the constant heartbreak of it all. our reality changing before my eyes.. i’ve been wondering how could you be so in a rush to leave us so suddenly & torturing.. for us to go on without you in life.”
She continued, “but deep down, i know you didn’t mean to & you didn’t mean to hurt us. ESPECIALLY NOT KOFI.. at least NOT LIKE THAT!!! how tf you leave without saying you’ll see us later?! i really don’t understand & i feel played about it all but i know you understand why.”
Roberts closed out the message by thanking Poppa for everything he did, while telling him to rest peacefully.
“Janarious, i got J’nar,” she wrote. “you go on & get your rest. i hope you found the peace you’ve been looking for. even though rn i feel like i can’t do it alone, not without YOU. we’ll be fine. thank you FOR EVERYTHING, from the bottom of my heart. we love you so much & we’re going to miss you endlessly in this lifetime!”
