J Cole accuses Cam’ron of disparagement over ‘Ready 24’ lawsuit

J Cole has filed a response to Cam’ron after being sued by the Dipset rapper last year.

Cam hit Cole with a lawsuit in October 2025, claiming he’s owed $500,000 over their ‘Ready ’24’ collaboration from his Might Delete Later mixtape.

He alleged that he was denied full credit and compensation, and that Cole had promised to return the favour with a feature or podcast appearance.

On February 10th, Cole’s lawyer, Christine Lepera, wrote in a court filing, “Plaintiff encouraged and blessed defendants’ use of his performance, as it was to his career benefit.”

She continued, “It was only after the release of ‘Ready ‘24’ that he began to demand unreasonable conditions never agreed to by Cole, or an excessive fee inconsistent with industry standards for a featured performance, followed by the filing of this lawsuit without notice to publicly disparage Cole as leverage.”

According to Billboard, Lepera claimed that although they had talked about a future collaboration of some sort, no promise was ever made.

“Plaintiff asked Cole to appear on his podcast, and he and Cole discussed the possibility of Cole appearing on plaintiff’s podcast, but no commitment was ever made by Cole to do so nor was there any agreement or condition related to ‘Ready ‘24’ to do so,” she said.

She added that Cam allegedly featured on the song “voluntarily and without condition” and that he never raised issues “prior to its commercial release. He is not, and never was, a joint author or co-owner of the sound recording.”

‘Ready ‘24’ serves as the third track on Cole’s Might Delete Later mixtape, released in April 2024. It has over 24 million streams on Spotify.
