J Cole releases unannounced album ‘Might Delete Later’

Dreamville founder and North Carolina native J Cole has released a surprise album for fans entitled Might Delete Later. The 12-track project features appearances from the likes of Cam’Ron, vocalist Ari Lennox and even a guest verse from UK drill act Central Cee.

The project sees Cole give his supporters new music as he prepares to release his upcoming seventh album, The Fall Off, which the ‘No Role Modelz’ emcee has been teasing since he dropped The Off-Season in 2021.

The surprise body of work sees Cole respond to a recent diss aimed at him and Drake by Compton lyricist Kendrick Lamar on ‘Like That’, a track from Metro Boomin’s latest album, we Don’t Trust You.

Lamar referred to a song Cole and Drake collaborated on entitled ‘First Person Shooter’. Calling out the pair, Lamar rapped, “Fuck sneak dissin’ / ‘First Person Shooter’ / I hope they came with three switches”.

J Cole referenced the “Big Three” on ‘First Person Shooter’, rhyming, “Love when they argue the hardest MC / Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me? / We the big three like we started a league.” However, Kendrick dismissed the idea that Cole and Drake are in his league, responding, “Motherfuck the big three, n*gga, it’s just big me!”

Cole only made a few references to Lamar on the project. However, he only made them on the T-Minus-produced track ‘7 Minute Drill’, on which he spits, “I got a phone call, they say that somebody dissing / You want some attention, it come with extensions.”

He continues, “I’m hesitant, I love my brother, but I’m not gonna lie / I’m powered up for real, that shit would feel like swattin’ a fly / Four albums in twelve years, n*gga, I can divide / Shit, if this is what you want, I’m indulgin’ in violence.“

Hip-hop fans are now awaiting a response from Lamar. You can see the artwork for Might Delete Later below.
