Ice Spice once named her five favourite Ice Spice songs

The career of Ice Spice has been a whirlwind so far. Since the release of her viral TikTok hit ‘Much (Feelin’ U), the Bronx emcee has been on an upward trajectory, headlining festivals such as Rolling Loud and touring the world. She has even been featured on tracks with the likes of Nicki Minaj and been in contact with Drake.

Since then, Gaston has performed at Drake’s OVO Fest and released singles such as ‘Bikini Bottom’ and ‘In Ha Mood’. Earlier this year, her EP, Like..?, debuted at 37 on the Billboard 200. In June last year, she released the deluxe edition of her Like..? EP, which featured an additional four new tracks.

Many have noticed that since her peak in 2023, she has been losing monthly listeners on Spotify faster than any other artist has before. It was announced earlier this year that the number of people streaming her music had dropped by over 25million within the span of a single year.

Still, regarding Spotify, it appears that Ice Spice has her favourite tracks, and one of her biggest fans is herself. During an episode of the Sherri Show, fans got to see the Bronx rhymer’s 2024 Spotify Wrapped, and it turns out that her top four songs were made by her.

It was revealed that Ice Spice’s top five artists were herself, Lana Del Rey, Drake, Lil Uzi Vert and Kali Uchis. However, her top five songs are far more interesting than this. PinkPantheresses and Ice Spices ‘Boy’s A Liar Pt 2’ came in at number one. ‘In Ha Mood’ ranked number two, followed by ‘Princess Diana’, ‘Munch (Fellin Yourself)’ and ‘Deli’.

It is rather strange that the ‘Think U The Shit (Fart)’ creator listens to herself, but Ice Spice seems to be being rejected by the culture. Not only does it appear the public is growing tired of her repetitive musical formula, but also of her childlike behaviour.

Compared to other female MCs who can easily enter the charts with their music, Ice Spice may be struggling to keep up the momentum needed to sustain a fan base. It is uncomfortable to accept, but since the release of her viral hit ‘Munch’, the musician has gone from having the hip-hop audience in the palm of her hand to the industry wanting nothing to do with her.

As such, it is unsurprising that she is listening to her own music, as many people who were previously listening are now not. Until this year, Ice Spice was seen as the artist to watch out for as she prepared to drop her debut project, Y2K! Although some in the culture had already scolded her, most were still optimistic about the album’s July release.

Still, when the body of work hit streaming platforms this summer, fans and critics alike were shocked at how underwhelming and poorly curated the album was, considering it was meant to showcase the full extent of what she had to offer. That said, you can see the wrapped of other celebrities on the Sherri Show.
