Four men have been found guilty of murdering Florida rapper Foolio.
The 26-year-old was shot and killed outside the Home2 Suites near the University of South Florida in June 2024.
On May 8th, a jury found 23-year-old Isaiah Chance, 20-year-old Sean Gathright, 32-year-old Rashad Murphy, and 29-year-old Davion Murphy guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Gathright and both Murphys were also convicted of attempted second-degree murder for injuring other people during the shooting. Chance and the Murphys were found to be criminal gang members, and that their crimes were done in furtherance of gang activity.
The verdict came after eight hours of deliberation. Jurors will decide on May 11th whether to sentence the men to the death penalty or life in prison.
In closing arguments, Assistant State Attorney Michelle Doherty told the jury, “There is a real gang war going on in Jacksonville. It is blatant. They shoot each other and then they post about it on social media.”
Foolio was allegedly a member of a gang called 6 Block, who had a longtime feud with gangs 1200 and ATK (Ace’s Top Killers).
His murder came after posting about his 26th birthday online, with his rivals accused of taking notice and crossing the state to find him. He was killed on June 23rd, 2024, at around 4:30am after being ambushed by the men, who were armed with a pistol and assault rifles.
A fifth suspect, Alicia Andrews, was found guilty of manslaughter in October 2025 and is awaiting sentencing.
Foolio dropped his final album, Resurrection, in April 2024. He has over a million monthly Spotify listeners, and is best known for his song ‘Voo Doo’, which has over 92 million streams.
