Florida woman charged with attempted murder after shooting Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s home
The woman accused of shooting at Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s home has been charged with attempted murder.
35-year-old Florida native, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, was arrested on March 8th after reports of gunfire at the couple’s property in Los Angeles.
According to The Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office officially charged Ortiz on March 10th.
She’s facing one count of attempted murder, 10 felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper.
LA County District Attorney Nathan J Hochman said in a statement, “Opening fire in any populated neighbourhood is extremely dangerous, puts lives at risk and will be fully prosecuted. Thankfully, no one was injured in this shooting, but this careless violence will not be tolerated in our community. Such shooters will find their next destination to be our jails and prisons.”
Shots were fired at Rihanna and Rocky’s home in Beverly Hills at around 1:15pm on March 8th. The Los Angeles Police Department say she fired seven shots before driving away from the area. However, no one was injured.
Ortiz faces up to life in prison if convicted. Her bail is set at $1.8 million and she’s been ordered to stay away from the singer and rapper.
“I want everyone to understand, in this county, that you should absolutely feel safe in your residence and in your neighbourhood and in your community,” Hochman continued. “That safety is something that we will work incredibly hard to protect.”
He added, “When an individual comes into our community and decides to shoot it up, that individual will be arrested and held fully accountable for her actions.”
During a hearing in downtown Los Angeles, Ortiz wore a blue jail jumpsuit with her hair tied between two blonde braids. She didn’t enter a plea, with her arraignment scheduled for March 26th.
