Fat Joe says 2024 has been the “worst year in hip-hop history”

2024 has been an eventful year not just in hip-hop but in the entertainment industry at large. However, as the year draws to a close, Terror Squad founder Fat Joe has concluded that it might be the worst year in hip-hop history.

Although many people may say that 1996 or 1997 were the worst years of all time due to the deaths of 2Pac and Biggie Smalls, Fat Joe is sure in his convictions and is confident that 2024 is unparalleled regarding scandals.

The year began with the bombshell Katt Williams on Club Shay Shay, and ever since, it seems that more and more celebrities have been roped into high-octane, public debacles. From Kendrick Lamar’s feud with Drake and its aftermath to Diddy and Jay-Z’s legal issues, even Fat Joe’s close friends Remay Ma and Papoose have seen difficulties.

During an appearance on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast, the Bronx native opened up about his disdain for the year, beginning, “I woke up in 2024 feeling like [God dammit!] It’s been a horrible year!”

He continued, “I was just having a heated discussion with my people [about this]. This might be the worst year ever in Hip Hop history type sh*t. This sh*t bad. All our legends, all our mentors getting scrutinized. This is the worst time to be a celebrity in the history of mankind. I’m not sure you guys wanna be celebrities.”

The ‘John Blaze’ rhymer unveiled that it’s a horrible year to be a celebrity and that 2024 has proved that being a celebrity is not all good, explaining, “Like I got friends who are filthy rich that wanna be popping and wanna be a celebrity. I don’t think they want everybody in they sh*t like that. This sh*t crazy out here. This is nuts. The f**king world done changed on me. It’s f**king nuts out here. You can’t make it up!”

2024 has included: Donald Trump being elected President, Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef, Diddy getting arrested, Jay-Z getting accused of rape, Offset and Cardi B getting divorced, and now, Papoose and Remy Ma’s marriage crumbling.

When asked about his feelings about Remy Ma and Papoose’s complicated and saddening marital issues, the Plata O Plomo creator explained, “It’s a hard situation. I don’t like none of that sh*t. What I can’t do is stop it. They won’t listen to me. It’s a different type of thing when you got a husband. Nobody comes to my house and tells my wife sh*t. This is your husband. I can’t get in the middle of that, that’s y’all. I wish this didn’t happen.”

Remy Ma and Papoose have recently accused each other of cheating, posting regularly on X and Instagram to share their side of the story, often including screenshots. This comes months after Remy was accused of cheating with a battle rapper by Geechi Gotti.
