Fat Joe claims Cleveland Cavaliers revoked his courtside seats
Fat Joe has claimed that the Cleveland Cavaliers took away his seats at Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The New York Knicks successfully completed their sweep of the Cavs on May 25th to progress to the NBA Finals.
Fat Joe, who is a longtime Knicks fan, has alleged that the Cavaliers found out he had purchased courtside seats and revoked them.
“I wanna say to Cleveland, I have bad news,” he said on ESPN. “We had bought some courtside seats to the game and then, once they found out it was superfan Fat Joe, they was like, ‘I can’t sit courtside. New York Knicks fans can’t sit courtside.’ They took the tickets away courtside after we purchased it, so shame on you all.”
Following the claim, a representative for the Cleveland Cavaliers shared a statement with the New York Post.
“Playoff courtside seating is governed by a specific agreement that prohibits the resale or transfer of tickets without approval,” they said. “All courtside ticket holders are required to comply with the terms of the single-game playoff agreement.”
Director Spike Lee, who is often spotted courtside at Madison Square Garden, only made it to the second row at Rocket Arena.
New York entrepreneur Jason Calacanis took to social media to claim that Cavaliers fans were forced to sign a document stating that they wouldn’t resell their courtside tickets to Knicks fans.
“[Cavaliers owner] Dan Gilbert has successfully blocked me from buying courtside seats,” he wrote. “Backstory: Dan forced fans to sign a DocuSign that they wouldn’t resell their courtside tickets, or they would face a lifetime ban from future Cavaliers games. I was told firsthand from ticket holders who wanted to sell them.”
