Drake wanted to release a ‘God’s Plan’ TV series on Prime Video
Drake recently unveiled that he would participate in a Christmas giveaway alongside one of the world’s most-followed streamers, Adin Ross. During the stream, which attracted over 202,000 viewers, the Toronto emcee and ‘Family Matters’ rhymer revealed that he planned on releasing a more elaborate version of his ‘God’s Plan’ video in collaboration with Amazon’s Prime Video.
Drizzy stated that he pitched the idea directly to Amazon’s founder, Jeff Bezos. His idea was supposedly an expanded version of the video, which saw him donate $996,631.90 to strangers in the downtown area of Miami. The rapper planned to film it in a series format. As such, he compared it to the series of food-themed travel shows created by Anthony Bourdain.
Drake and Adin Ross’ stream was dubbed the “biggest streaming giveaway ever.” However, Drizzy suggested that if Jeff Bezos had approved the show he pitched, it would have been even bigger and seen more money given away.
Speaking about the ‘God’s Plan’ TV show he tried to push through, the Views creator told Ross, “You see what we’re doing tonight, this is a thing that I wanted to do ever since I shot that ‘God’s Plan’ video. I asked Jeff Bezos. The word I got back is that he didn’t want to do it.”
He continued, “Anthony Bourdain was a guy who travelled the world, showed people different spots, and took people into places that they would never see. I wanted to do God’s Plan, the TV show, ten episodes a year. I wanted to travel across the world. I know there’s a lot of billionaires out there, people who have a lot of money, who don’t have a chance to put a face to their charitable actions.”
Although Ross had never heard of Bourdain, he understood the general concept of the show. The ‘In My Feelings’ star detailed how he wanted the show to go to some of the most notable locations in the world, meet people who were really in need, and help them by giving them an “insane amount of money,” totalling up to tens of millions.
It never got the green light from Jeff Bezos, who, most likely, saw it as a waste of money. At another point during the stream, Drake spoke about his upcoming joint album with PARTYNEXTDOOR and promised he’s “loaded” with music for the forthcoming year. However, a collaborative project with Drizzy right now could be the kiss of death for any urban artist.
Speaking about the album Drake told Adin Ross, “I’m loaded [for 2025.] Me and PARTY’s [album is] honestly one of the projects I’m most proud of in my life. I’ve always wanted to make a full album of that – of our sound, Toronto sound, R&B. So it’s just the best that both of us have to offer. The listening party has to be in the city. I think ’25 will be a shift. I think people wanna just get back to like just dropping their shit.”
