Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR tease fans about a new joint album
PARTYNEXTDOOR is one of Drake’s most successful artists. Not only was he the first singer he Canadian signed to OVO Sound, but he is also, by far, the highest-selling vocalist on the label. Having collaborated with the likes of Kanye West, Post Malone and Rihanna, the Toronto native has joined forces with some of the most renowned figures in the music industry. That said, he may be releasing a joint project with Drake soon.
The prospect of a collaborative album featuring Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR has OVO fans sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting in anticipation. The news is that the full project should be available this autumn.
The latest addition to the suggestion of a joint album came not from an unnamed reporter but from the singer himself, who recently spoke on OVO’s The Fry Yiy Show, which airs on SiriusXM Sound 42 every Friday.
During his appearance on the radio show hosted by OVO Co-Founder Oliver El-Khatib, PARTYNEXTDOOR spoke about how he and Drizzy have been crazily working over recent months and are relentlessly trying to finish a joint LP.
Not only did he express how hard the pair are trying, but he also revealed how excited he is to be collaborating with his longtime friend and fellow Canadian on a full-length project, as the pair have only collaborated on tracks and singles in the past.
Speaking to El-Khatib, the vocalist unveiled, “I have had an insane week! So… You guys know what’s coming for you. PARTY and Drake have a classic. And we, you know, we trying to put the finishing touches on it, so… Yeah, it’s a jam-packed month for me filled with the thing that I love to do the most. Besides being a great dad, the world’s greatest dad. But that’s beside the point.”
Although OVO fans are excited about a potential joint project, earlier this year, fans sensed a rift forming between OVO Sound and Drake’s former collective, Young Money, after both Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR showed public support for Latto and Ice Spice, who were butting heads with Drake’s longtime friend Nicki Minaj.
Still, this was only speculation by fans, and there isn’t any evidence of a conflict. That said, many OVO supporters are still reeling from Kendrick Lamar’s very public humiliation of Drake as the dust settles on their battle.
Concerning that historic event, J. Cole recently released a song addressing both Drake and Kendrick and reopened the conversation again. However, akin to the artists, fans are still in their corners and seemingly aren’t ready to put the feud behind them and, at this point, don’t feel the need to show some sort of empathy.
