Drake becomes only artist to have sold over 200 million albums

For at least the last five years, Drake, akin to the likes of Kanye West and Eminem, has been among one of the most decorated hip-hop artists of all time, and the Canadian rapper and singer has broken a new record concerning record sales.

Last year, Drake surpassed Eminem for the most sales certified by the RIAA and even surpassed The Beatles for the most top-five singles on the Billboard Hot 100. However, he has now become the only artist to have sold over 200 million album sales as a lead artist.

Drake recently took to Instagram to share the news with fans. The new certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) have seen the Toronto native achieve some impressive feats.

According to the RIAA, a platinum certification is equivalent to 1 million units. The recent news sees Take Care officially certified eight times platinum, while Nothing Was The Same is now six times platinum.

Drake’s more recent albums have also begun to reach extraordinary heights. Certified Lover Boy has surpassed three million sales, while Her Loss is right behind it with two million.

Many of Drake’s singles are also breaking records. Some of his tracks have even reached nine million sales. All of these sales, when aggregated, have led to Drake surpassing Eminem with regards to sales of albums and singles combined.

While Outkast’s Speakerboxx/The Love Below still remains the highest-selling rap album of all time, Drake’s One Dance’ featuring Kyla and Wizkid is officially the best-selling hip-hop single ever. You can see the full list from Drake’s story below.
