Drake releases three brand new songs

Following the release of Drake’s monumental 100GB release of song snippets, unreleased music and behind-the-scenes footage, the three songs included in the mass of content have now officially been uploaded onto streaming services.

On August 10th, three brand new Drizzy tracks made their way onto Spotify, Apple Music and similar services. These songs are ‘It’s Up’, which features Young Thug and 21 Savage, as well as ‘Blue Green Red’ and ‘Housekeeping Knows’, the latter of which has a feature from Latto. Excited about the release, Latto took to social media, uploading a video of her rapping her verse with the caption, “DRAKE – HOUSEKEEPING KNOWS PRODUCED BY MEEEEEEE!!!! HES BAAAAAAACKKKK!!!”

It’s easy to be excited about Drake uploading such a heap of content, even though it did somewhat feel like a publicity stunt and an effort to shift the narrative away from his recent beef with Kendrick Lamar. Because of the sheer mass of content and the amount of time it would take people to get through everything, many people criticised the move.

The content was released via a website called 100gigs.org. Drizzy advertised the drop using a new Instagram page, which had the handle @plottttwistttttt. The files were uploaded on August 6th, but due to the size of the documents, it has taken people days to rummage through the material.

Highlights contained within the bundle include footage of Drake talking about his hit song, ‘Hotline Bling’. In the video, he admits that the track was inspired by a woman he was sleeping with and that while it ended up being a solo outing, he was tempted to get Future on the track.

There is another video of Drake speaking to his mother and saying that the song ‘Too Good’, featuring Rihanna, is all about his past fling with tennis star Serena Williams.

He also plays an early version of the song ‘U With Me’ which features an entirely different beat and lyrics that contain a jab at The Weeknd, as he says, “OVO, there’s no need to tack on no extra letters.”

There is also footage of Drake doing an impression of The Weeknd while warming up for a show, as well as him and Rihanna rehearsing for a performance of ‘Take Care’ in 2014. Drizzy also plays snippets of unreleased songs, which include ‘Piece of Me’, ‘Courtside Stepper’, ‘Barbados Mandem’, ‘Mention Me’ and ‘Young, Rich & Beautiful’.
