DJ Akademiks says fans are hating on Drake’s new songs

Podcaster and cultural commentator DJ Akademiks was at the forefront during Drake’s beef with Kendrick Lamar and regularly talked to the Toronto artist during the feud. However, the podcaster (real name Livingston Allen) has spoken out, claiming that fans are currently hating on Drake’s new songs.

Drake’s final diss, ‘The Heart Part 6,’ directed at Lamar, received a lot of backlash. In fact, it received so much hate that the video received more dislikes on YouTube than likes, and fans were quick to point it out. Over one million dislikes is quite a feat, and many rejoiced in Drake’s failure.

Drake (real name Aubrey Graham) then released a follow-up single, ‘U My Everything,’ which suffered the same consequence. This makes it look like Drake is losing more fans by the day. However, Allen is claiming that hip-hop is making a concerted effort to make the Scorpion emcee’s downfall appear worse than it is.

On May 26th, Akademiks took to Twitter/X to share his response to the overwhelmingly harsh reactions to Drake’s new material, writing, “Either n**gas hating on Drake or n**gas hate botting his latest releases.”

He continued, “His last 2 releases has more dislikes than likes on YouTube. ‘The Heart Part 6’ and his newest feature on Sexyy Redd song. And ‘Family Matters’ has over 400k dislikes on YouTube. Very abnormal.”

Graham is usually highly successful with his music. However, due to his latest feud, he has been subject to a lot of mockery. Kendrick Lamar turned ‘Not Like Us’ and ‘Euphoria’ into hits, with the former topping the charts. Both were Drake diss tracks.

On the contrary, none of Graham’s diss tracks could enter the top ten, and, according to Spotify, his music has also seen a downturn in streaming, with his numbers reportedly down 5% compared to previous releases.

Drake’s feature on Sexxy Red’s ‘U My Everything’ doesn’t hear him attempt to move on from the beef. Instead, he chose to flip Metro Boomin’s ‘BBL Drizzy’ beat and change the title’s meaning. However, the feature fell on deaf ears, and the Canadian is struggling to get back to where he was before he attempted to destroy Kendrick Lamar.
