Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs shut down ‘Saturday Night Live’ building during appearance

Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs appeared on Saturday Night Live in 1998, but his presence on set was unlike any other guest, according to comedian Ana Gasteyer. His arrival at the NBC building was apparently enough for staff to be told to stay in their dressing rooms until he had left.

Gasteyer was a cast member on SNL between 1996 and 2002 and has since starred in a number of films and television shows, including 2004’s Mean Girls.

During her recent appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, she described Diddy as an “arsehole” and went into detail about his visit in the late ’90s.

“He, of course, shut down the whole building,” she said. “You can tell the five arseholes in the six years that I was there when they would be like, ‘So-and-so is in the building. Everybody stay in your dressing rooms!’ Which is applicable if you’re a presidential candidate. But apart from that, really it’s my house. He demanded a totally closed set.”

Trying to lighten things up a bit, the staff suggested Will Ferrell should go on set dressed as Ron from the show’s ‘Mango’ skit. Diddy was apparently rapping at the time and was made “very uncomfortable” with the situation, with Gasteyer describing it as the greatest thing to happen during her time at SNL.

“They were like, ‘Wouldn’t it be so funny if Ron just went in?’” she said. “And he did. He went on down the stairs and he marched right in. And I have the video from the control room where Sean Combs is rapping and behind him, Ron is just walking around looking really disoriented.”

She added, “It is the greatest thing that’s ever happened, because what a deserved person to have their ‘Kashmir’ moment interrupted by Ron. And he really did not roll with it. He was very uncomfortable.”

This wasn’t the only time Diddy appeared on SNL. In 2010, he starred in a sketch alongside an all-star cast that included Robert De Niro, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig.

Combs is currently in federal custody after being charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and the creation of a criminal enterprise, which he denies. Former Bad Boy signee Shyne recently spoke out about his power, claiming he “destroyed” his life and that he believed he was the “devil.”
