Saturday Night Live, often referred to as SNL, is one of America’s most popular and widely televised late-night comedy shows. The beloved programme has been on Americans’ screens since 1975. A mere appearance on the show signifies global success and is reserved for A-list actors, comedians, musicians, and other public figures.
Although it’s a talk show, SNL offers viewers outstanding performances from renowned acts who happily grace the stage at Rockefeller Centre. However, it is rumoured that some have been banned from appearing on the show.
In 2022, before West went on his anti-semitic tirade, it was evident he was unhappy with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian and was regularly lashing out at her then-boyfriend, Pete Davidson. The Chicago producer was doing everything in his power to offend Davidson and was referencing him in tracks continuously.
However, at the time, Davidson was a cast member of the late-night sketch comedy show, and due to Kanye’s behaviour, it later came to light that he may have been banned from appearing on SNL.
According to a Radar Online report, the show temporarily banned Ye and urged him to seek help. An anonymous source to the publication, SNL “loves controversy and isn’t afraid to tackle any story in the news head-on,” but it’s “obvious that Kanye needs help and making threats against a cast member is not a laughing matter.”
The unnamed source continued, “Officially, the show doesn’t have a list of banned celebrities. However, behind the scenes, everyone knows it exists. There are certain people that are just so awful that they will never be invited back and other people like Kanye who were great TV but just not worth the drama.”
Although the claims were never directly confirmed by Saturday Night Live, it seems there is no love lost between the two West as once told the program and its cast to “kiss [his] whole ass” in 2010.
