Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs “hated Tupac’s guts” according to former Bad Boy rapper
Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs has been accused of hating Tupac Shakur by a rapper who was signed to Puff’s Bad Boy Records label. Chopper, also known as Young City, was a member of hip-hop group Da Band, which was formed out of the MTV reality television series Making the Band.
During a recent interview, the New Orleans rapper claimed Combs had a problem with him after revealing that Tupac was one of his favourite rappers growing up instead of Biggie Smalls, who was signed to Bad Boy in 1993 and had beef with ‘Pac.
“I remember one time, he was like, ‘Who did you grow up listening to?’ I’m like, ‘Tupac,’ I ain’t mention Biggie,” he told The Art of Dialogue. “That n*gga ain’t even talk to me for like four fuckin’ days after that. You couldn’t say ‘Pac was anything better than Biggie. You can’t put them in the same realm or nothing, it was all about Biggie.”
Chopper alleged that Combs forced him to learn the lyrics to Biggie’s ‘Juicy’, before adding, “Diddy hated everything about Tupac, no matter how that sound. Diddy hated ‘Pac, facts. Hated his guts. Hated him. It was that serious.”
He then suggested that the only reason Combs is incarcerated right now is because they’re trying to connect him to Tupac’s murder. “I think the real reason why they ain’t gon’ let Puffy out is because they trying to connect that Keefe D situation with Puffy,” he said. “That’s what I really think it is.”
The rapper continued, “Because if came down to some sex trafficking foolishness and all that there, I don’t think they got no evidence. Puff is not a dangerous person on the outside – they know if they let him out right now, he gon’ be on house arrest. He gon’ be a good boy.”
Da Band also included members Sara Rivers, Dylan Dilinjah, Babs, Ness and Freddy P. They released one album titled Too Hot for TV in 2003, peaking at number two on the Billboard 200. The album was certified gold by the RIAA with sales of over 500,000 copies, with its singles ‘Bad Boy This, Bad Boy That’ and ‘Tonight’ reaching number 50 and number 45 on the Hot 100, respectively.
