Detroit rapper Sada Baby pleads no contest to felony drug charge

Detroit rapper Sada Baby has pleaded no contest to a felony drug charge.

The 33-year-old (real name Casada Sorrell) is facing up to four years in prison and/or a $25,000 fine after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance less than 25 grams.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, Sada entered his plea on July 2nd, via the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

The plea, which was accepted by the judge, dismisses the habitual offender enhancement. He’s scheduled to be sentenced at 8:30am on August 20th.

Sada was arrested during a traffic stop in January 2025 on an outstanding warrant for a previous arrest for driving without a license.

Police said they found a bag of pills in the driver’s side door pocket, containing oxycodone hydrochloride and acetaminophen.

In a statement, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said at the time, “Illicit narcotics pose a serious threat to the safety and well-being of our community. When an individual chooses to possess these substances, they endanger lives and contribute to the cycle of addiction that affects families across our county.”

He continued, “In Macomb County, this conduct will not be tolerated. Our office will continue to pursue these cases aggressively and hold offenders fully accountable under the law.”

During an interview with Stereovision in 2020, Sada explained why separates Detroit from the rest of the rap scene.

“A lot of us don’t like each other and we don’t have to like each other for our music to stand out as a whole,” he said. “Everywhere else besides Chicago and Detroit likes to paint a picture that their whole city fucks with each other and that’s just not true, and here, we know it’s not true. There’s for sure separate factions too.”
