Death Row producer Daz Dillinger sues Tupac Shakur’s estate over ‘All Eyez on Me’
The estate of Tupac Shakur has been sued by Death Row producer Daz Dillinger.
The hip-hop producer, who is a member of Tha Dogg Pound and Snoop Dogg’s cousin, claims he’s owed unpaid royalties from 2Pac’s 1996 album, All Eyez on Me.
According to Billboard, Dillinger filed the lawsuit over his writing and production credits on the songs ‘Ambitionz az a Ridah’, ‘Skandalouz’, ‘Got My Mind Made Up’, ‘2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted’, and ‘I Ain’t Mad at Cha’.
Dillinger alleges that he asked for royalties in 2024 and was paid $91,000 by the company that manages the late rapper’s assets. However, he claims he wasn’t given any royalty statements to confirm the amount.
A lawyer for Dillinger stated, “At a minimum, Amaru [Entertainment] has failed to render statements and/or pay sums due within the applicable limitations periods and continuing to the present. The precise amount owed will be shown according to proof after an accounting and discovery.”
All Eyez on Me is considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart with 566,000 copies sold in its first week.
Dillinger took to social media last year to deny rumours that he was jealous of 2Pac’s success.
“People always saying that Snoop. Dr Dre, us, everybody – we was jealous of Tupac,” he said in an Instagram video. “How can we be jealous of Tupac and we made Tupac?”
He continued, “We put that album together. We came over there, we gave him music. We did that. We wanted him to be the man of the man, so how was we jealous putting his album together? Taking songs from us and giving it to him – how is that jealousy?”
