Busta Rhymes turns himself in to New York police after allegedly punching assistant
Brooklyn emcee Busta Rhymes recently turned himself into a New York City precinct after allegedly assaulting his personal assistant.
As reported by The New Post, on January 10th, the ‘Touch It’ rapper reportedly had a long argument with his employee, 50-year-old Dashiel Gables. The debacle supposedly began because Gables was on his phone during work hours.
The fiery event allegedly occurred in the lobby of Gables’ apartment building in Dumbo, and after their exchange escalated, Busta Rhymes supposedly punched Gables in the face several times, leaving him with a swollen left eye.
Following the incident, Gables called 911 and was taken to a local hospital and treated for the reported eye injury. On January 14th, the Blockbusta creator was turned himself in and received a desk appearance ticket, meaning he will have to appear in front of a court for misdemeanour assault, attempted assault and harassment.
When Gables was contacted by The New York Post for comment, he stated that his lawyer had advised him not to speak with the press but suggested, “Maybe later. Maybe in the future. I can’t mess up my case, bro. It’s just not going to be worth it. An article in the paper as opposed to a six or seven-million-dollar settlement? I’m not risking it, sorry.”
Still, despite this recent fiasco, Busta Rhymes will be honoured with a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame this year. Last June, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce unveiled its Class of 2025, announcing that Prince, The Isley Brothers, Jane Fonda, Nia Long, David Beckham and Green Day were just some of the entertainers in line to receive a star.
Busta celebrated the news on Instagram, writing: “AS YOU WILL CONTINUE TO HEAR IT FROM ME EVERY SINGLE DAY, THE BLESSINGS DON’T STOP SO WE WILL NEVER EVER STOP!! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED WITH CHOOSING ME TO BE BLESSED WITH SUCH A PRESTIGIOUS ACCOLADE SUCH AS THE HOLLYWOOD STAR ON THE @hwdwalkoffame.”

The ‘I Know What You Want’ emcee concluded: “WE WORKED HARD AND WILL CONTINUE TO WORK HARD BECAUSE WE LOVE IT TO MUCH!! BY THE WAY WE AIN’T NEVER STOPPING!! BIG #BLOCKBUSTA TYPE SHIT!! IT’S A CELEBRATION BIT%#ES!!”
