Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak to release Silk Sonic’s debut album in 2022

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak have pushed back the release of their debut album as Silk Sonic until 2022.

Earlier this year, the supergroup’s shared their first track, ‘Leave The Door’s Open’, which was a huge hit and followed it up in epic style with ‘Skate’. The duo even performed their debut effort at this year’s Grammys and provided a shining moment.

Sadly, the pair have now revealed that their debut album won’t arrive until 2022 after previously stating it would arrive this year.

They have been in talks to start the project since 2017 when .Paak opened up for Mars on tour, and the seed was initially planted. The duo have natural chemistry with their communal love of retro funk helping forge Silk Sonic.

“It was like, ‘Well, want to come back tomorrow?'” Mars previously told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about their incarnation. “And we kept coming up with music. It felt like why you fall in love with music in the first place. And jamming with your buddy.

“There’s no plan, just working out the parts and trying to excite each other… that’s why this wouldn’t happen if it didn’t make sense and it didn’t feel natural and organic. This was a series of events that led us to ‘Man, why don’t we just do it?'”

Now Silk Sonic have lifted the lid on when fans should expect to hear their debut album, and unfortunately, despite its completion, it looks to be an agonising wait.

“We’re really in touch-up mode now,” Mars told Rolling Stone. “We’ve got the bones of most of the album, so it’s really about touching up parts that need a little more… Grease.” Later in the interview, the singer revealed more singles are on their way, with Mars commenting, “I don’t want to be binge-watched.”

Although the album will arrive later than first presumed, judging by the singles released thus far, Silk Sonic will be worth the wait.
