BigXthaPlug arrested on drug and gun charges

Dallas rap artist BigXthaPlug has been arrested on drug and gun charges on the same night as his album release.

The rapper (real name Xavier Landum) hosted a release party for his third studio album, I Hope You’re Happy, on August 22nd. Hours into the celebration at 2:20am, Landum was arrested and booked for marijuana possession and unlawful possession of a firearm, as reported by Rolling Stone.

The father-of-two first had a run-in with the law on an aggravated robbery charge, and was later arrested in 2022 when he violated his probation due to firearm and drug charges.

BigX was also arrested back in February of 2025 for possession of less than two ounces of marijuana. Similarly, on that occasion, Arlington Police Department said officers pulled over BigX due to driving with expired tags and subsequently discovered his weed usage.

His new release features Luke Combs, Darius Rucker, Shaboozey, Thomas Rhett, Ella Langley, and more. He scored a number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs in April with ‘All the Way’ featuring Bailey Zimmerman.

In a recent press release, BigX opened up about how much his latest album meant to him. “This album’s my heart, my story — the love, the loss, the heartbreak, the grind. I wanted people to feel it all with me, the highs, the lows, the real life that shapes you. I Hope You’re Happy is me mixing my urban roots with that country soul, tellin’ my story straight up, just me.”

His last album, the now-platinum Take Care, was released in October 2024. It peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200 chart before a deluxe version dropped in January. BigX has been hitting new heights in recent years with songs like ‘Mmhmm’, which has over 338 million Spotify streams.

BigXthaPlug’s team are yet to comment on the recent arrest.
