Watch Biggie Smalls' son CJ Wallace cover ‘One More Chance’

Biggie Smalls’ son CJ Wallace has performed his father’s verse from ‘One More Chance’ to celebrate what should have been his 50th birthday.

The track is a poignant one for Wallace because not only does it feature his late father, ‘One More Chance / Stay With Me (Remix)’, but it also featured his mother Faith Evans on vocals. For the performance, Wallace appeared on stage alongside Lil Kim, Lil Cease and Fat Joe.

Footage of the 25-year-old paying tribute to his late father was thankfully captured by radio host Sway Calloway, and it made for a truly beautiful moment.

It took place during the second Annual B.I.G. Dinner Gala at Guastavino’s in New York City on Friday, and Lil Kim was on hosting duties to celebrate what would’ve been Biggie’s 50th birthday on Saturday.

Following the performance, Wallace spoke to Billboard at the event, and said he believed his late father “would be proud” of him. He said: “He’s getting all his wishes up there, and everything that I’ve ever dreamed of has been obtainable for me. All of my aspirations are coming to fruition.

“Nothing is going to be handed to me,” he added. “I appreciate him for instilling that in me. Wanting to strive for certain things and wanting to be something that’s bigger than just ‘somebody’s son.’ It’s bigger than that for me and my sister as well.”

This year also marked 25-years since the legendary rapper passed away in 1997, and to commemorate the anniversary, his close friend, Diddy, paid an emotional tribute to Biggie. He shared a video of the pair together and captioned the post: “There will NEVER be another. The GREATEST RAPPER OF ALL TIME. Today we celebrate and honor you king. Love and miss you!!”
