A$AP Rocky reveals the two rappers who make him star-struck
A$AP Rocky may be one of the biggest names in hip-hop, but he still gets star-struck when meeting two of the greats.
The Harlem rapper is currently doing interviews leading up to the release of his long-awaited album, Don’t Be Dumb, which is scheduled for release on January 16th.
Rocky sat down with W Magazine and was asked if he ever gets star-struck when meeting celebrities.
“All the time,” he said. “I got star-struck working with Denzel [Washington]. And even though I know these guys, I get star-struck anytime I encounter André 3000 or Jay-Z. I admire and respect them so much that I still fan out.
Last year, Rocky praised Jay for his wisdom, telling Elle Magazine, “I think Jay-Z is a Black therapist. A lot of people come to him with their problems.”
Rocky once answered questions from 3000 during an interview with GQ, being asked, “What hidden talent do you have that only your parents or close people know?”
He replied, “Well, we might have to call my moms, then. I display mostly all my talents. Right? I’m creative, intricate – angelic at moments. You gonna make me sound real conceited right now talking about myself. Why don’t you tell me what it is?”
Then, when asked, “What hobby or craft would you like to be doing that is completely outside music or fashion?” he said, “I want to design furniture. Maybe a sofa. Or a bed.”
Don’t Be Dumb will be Rocky’s first album in eight years, following 2018’s Testing. It’s set to include the lead single, ‘Punk Rocky‘, which was released earlier this week. Director Tim Burton and composer Danny Elfman are heavily involved in the project.
